Trapped on the Bolt Bus
Face

5:00 pm on a Friday. I decided to take the 1:30 pm bus from Washington DC to New York City. A half hour outside of DC, the police pull over the driver for speeding. A quick look at her log shows that she is over hours for the day, and shouldn't be driving. She is ordered to pull over immediately, and stops the bus for an hour without letting people off. She shuts off the power, including lights to the bathroom. Passengers freak out. Four hours later, we are still sitting in a parking lot somewhere in Delaware. I still have at least three more hours of travel - that is, providing that Bolt finds another bus and driver... but they promised that two hours ago.

Watch the driver misinterpret the first amendment. She stole the cell phone of the woman sitting in the seat next to me. You can get the video here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc3ifRHQBNM

I hope that does not happen to me when I travel to Chicago on Megabus. I wish you better luck.

We'll have a great weekend whenever you get here.

Amtrak next time! >:(

So you'll be evaluating them as "Very Good" rather than "Excellent" when they send out the customer satisfaction survey, then?

6 pm. Still no replacement bus. Everyone is standing outside in the cold because the bathroom smells so bad. Bolt says the driver has been fired, but passengers think they're lying.

The current theory is that the scheduled driver didn't show up, so this woman stepped in. However, she was over hours for the period. We think Bolt told her to driver anyway. Driver insists the bus is defective and the lights aren't working... at least that's her story.

Man oh man, hopefully someone on the bus knows or is related to a good attorney.

I don't believe they don't have more drivers on call, with dozens of buses making that route daily.

I think they may have a ticket office across the street from where they load up on 31st St. We can stop by tomorrow and try and get a refund, and book you on Amtrak going back.

Those that have a working phone should be dialing the local media, and twittering/facebooking the fuck out of this.

Where/how are you picking up wifi?

I have yet to hear a single good thing about these cheap buses. At least you havent died, which is another thing they are good for. They were responsible for a rash of rather spectacular crashes, which is why the cops have cracked down on them.

wow

yeah, patrick...at least you ain't dead.

Yes the atlantic city buses from NYC where building quite a body count, followed by a few of these cheap DC-NYC-Boston busses.I had a freind that took one of these to baltimore, a 3hr trip was 6 hrs.

Yikes, what an awful situation.

I hope you get put onto a clean, warm bus driven by a qualified and alert driver soon.

And I hope the rest of your trip goes much, much better.

7:30, and the replacement bus finally showed up! I'm on the road again...

That still sucks serious dick -- and not it the 'good' way either :)

<SLOBBERS>

Whoo-hoo! 9:30 pm and the second bus is finally making it into the city. That was an eight hour tour.

have fun, finally, mister

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour....

Ugh, at least you didn't what 2 dipshit drivers did last winter around here trying to get to the Grayhound station here in
Seattle when we had all that snow, they should've seen the clues and acted upon them in trying to find an alternative to the station.

They almost went over the edge onto I-5 below trying to come down my snow covered hill of a street that dead ends at Melrose before dropping some 100+ feet to the freeway below.

Thankfully I was at work, but was let in on the raw video after the slide.

just glad you are safe and in NYC.

I was going to ask, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" a coupla hundred times, but it seems pointless, now......

Wow, I'm glad you're okay!

I think I'll stop complaining about my crappy Greyhound experiences now....

Oh, and I notice you're not the only one who's taken vids of scary Bolt drivers. Yikes.

But what about all your luggage? The were able to transfer it all, non?

she is right you can't record someones voice just their image... this is what got that Fugly Snitch Linda Tripp screwed when she recorded Clinton's piece of ass

Sorry about your bus ride. Unfortunately in Maryland there is a silly law regarding taping, so technically should could be right, depending upon the attorneys.
