At the tattoo convention

I went to the world's largest tattoo convention last weekend. Thanks to wet_in_sf for the invitation... it was a great idea, and I also enjoyed brunch with him beforehand. It was also great to run into theoctothorpe and notdefined there. If you've even wanted to see a lot of hot shirtless straight biker dudes all in one place, I highly recommend going to an ink show.

I really should have asked if I could tag along with you and wet_in_sf but I had this weird compulsion to get home. I have no idea why, I'm sure I'd have had a lot more fun otherwise.

I've never been to a tattoo convention ... I can imagine there's eye candy in all directions. ;)

I think you would have enjoyed it and you would have fit in nicely!

I dig tattoo convention/shows.

I have a celtic cross on my left bicep. It's the pattern from a "Van Morrison and the Chieftains" album that I loved in college. It's a reminder to myself to keep playing music, because it was a big part of my life.

Someday you might know the pattern you want. Before I got my tattoo, I would look into a mirror and notice that the design *wasn't* there. At that point, I decided I might as well go ahead and get it! I felt incomplete without it, and would feel incomplete if it went away tomorrow.

The idea of "tattoo regret" is really overstated, IMHO. I have never met someone who had only one tattoo and wished they wouldn't have gotten it. I know people with four or five that don't like their first one as much. But with today's cover-ups and removal, tattoos aren't as indelible as they once were... and I don't know how I feel about that.

My joke is that if you date someone for more than 7 years, you should have their name tattooed on your face. That way, you can never deny your love, or tell your friends that the ex means nothing to you. If they are burned into your heart, they should be visible for everyone to see. Is there an event that you know changed your life? Why not celebrate/memorialize/own that experience by getting a tattoo?

I'll probably go to the Denver show, but not for quite the same reasons you went. ^_^
